South Florida's event season is not one season. It is a chain of boat shows, art fairs, food festivals, road races, stadium weekends and conventions that starts with Miami Carnival the second weekend of October and does not let go until the Formula 1 weekend at the start of May. Between those bookends, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties host some of the most labor-hungry weeks on the U.S. event calendar, and the same pool of servers, bartenders, setup crews and porters gets asked to be in three places at once.

How to read this guide

Dates checked October 2, 2026, on each organizer's or venue's own website. Where an organizer has not published 2026–27 dates yet, we say so instead of guessing.

This guide puts every verified date on one page, flags the weekends where the three counties collide, and lists the temp roles each kind of event actually orders. Use it to book crews early for the crunch weekends and to keep a standby list for the ones that overlap. If you already know what you need, order event staff in Miami or request a crew and a dispatcher will build the order with you.

Every date below carries a verification label: CONFIRMED means the 2026–27 edition's dates appear on the organizer's or venue's own site; THIRD-PARTY means we found them only on a tourism board or news listing; NOT YET PUBLISHED means nobody has announced them, so we show the last edition instead. We never extrapolate a date from last year's pattern. Attendance figures appear only where the organizer prints them, and we quote them as "organizer says."

The guide covers events that move hourly labor (anything with tents, bars, buffets, stages, grandstands, parking lots or a convention floor), which is the same work our event staffing crews do. It leaves out things that matter to the region but not to a staffing plan (the Dolphins' regular season, cruise-ship turnarounds).

The season at a glance

One table per month, straight from our data file. Rows labeled CONFIRMED were read on the organizer's or venue's own page on October 2, 2026. The full list, with organizer URLs, notes and organizer-stated figures, is a free download: Download the event list (CSV).

Not in the tables but on the calendar: Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26) hotel and club buffets, the corporate holiday-party Fridays and Saturdays of December 4–5, 11–12 and 18–19 in all three counties, and the AvMed Orange Bowl Beach Run on Sunday, December 13. See holiday event staffing 2026 for party headcounts.

The crunch weekends

A single big event is manageable. The problem weekends are the ones where two or three counties peak together and every caterer in the region is calling the same bartenders. These are the ones to book first.

October 28 – November 1: FLIBS. The Fort Lauderdale boat show spreads across the Broward County Convention Center, Bahia Mar and four more marinas, and the organizer says 100,000-plus attendees and 1,300-plus boats. Dock and tent build-in runs the week before and strike the week after, so the real labor window is roughly October 21 to November 5. Exhibitor hospitality (bartenders, servers for yacht and tent receptions) and setup and teardown crews are the two orders to plan for.

November 30 – December 6: Miami Art Week. Art Basel's preview days are Wednesday, December 2 and Thursday, December 3, with public days Friday through Sunday, December 4–6, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Design Miami, SCOPE, NADA and Art Miami/CONTEXT open December 1, Untitled on December 2. Every fair runs a VIP preview with a bar, every hotel on Collins Avenue hosts a brand dinner, and the convention center build-in starts the week before. Treat December 1–6 as the single tightest week of the season for bartenders and banquet servers in Miami-Dade. It also lands on the first corporate-party Friday and Saturday (December 4–5), so Broward and Palm Beach venues feel it too.

December 10–13: Palm Beach and Broward both peak. The Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival (organizer says 50 restaurants and 60-plus wineries at the Grand Tasting) runs December 10–13; the Palm Beaches Marathon finishes on Flagler Drive on Sunday morning, December 13; the Winterfest Boat Parade fills Fort Lauderdale's waterfront on Saturday evening, December 12; and the Orange Bowl Beach Run is Sunday, December 13. The second corporate-party weekend (December 11–12) sits in the middle of it, which is when banquet servers in West Palm Beach get scarce.

January 15–17: Art Deco Weekend and Beaux Arts on the same weekend. The 50th Art Deco Weekend on Ocean Drive and the Beaux Arts Festival at the University of Miami (organizer says 25,000-plus attendees) share the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, one day after the Orange Bowl's College Football Playoff semifinal on Thursday, January 14 at Hard Rock Stadium. Three different venues, three different crews, one weekend.

February 12–15: the busiest weekend of the whole season. The Miami International Boat Show runs February 10–14 across the Miami Beach Convention Center, Pride Park and two marina sites. The Delray Beach Open opens February 12 and runs ten days. The Coconut Grove Arts Festival takes Presidents' Day weekend, February 13–15. The A1A Marathon's 5K is Saturday, February 13 and the marathon Sunday, February 14, which is also Valentine's Day for every restaurant in the region. All three counties, all at once. If you book one weekend early this season, book this one.

February 25–28: SOBEWFF. The South Beach Wine & Food Festival is the heaviest single-week demand for food-and-beverage temps of the year: the organizer says 105-plus events across Miami Beach and the rest of Miami-Dade, most of them with full bar and plated or passed service. Servers, bartenders and catering kitchen help book out first; dishwashers second.

March 14–28: Calle Ocho, the Miami Open and two boat shows. Calle Ocho and the Miami Open both start Sunday, March 14 (the tennis dates are marked "subject to change" on the tournament site). The Palm Beach International Boat Show (organizer says 55,000-plus attendees in 2025) runs March 17–21 and overlaps the Original Miami Beach Antique Show, March 18–22, at the convention center. Then Winter Music Conference, March 24–26, hands straight into Ultra at Bayfront Park, March 26–28, with Ultra's multi-day build and strike on either side.

April 30 – May 2: Formula 1. The Miami Grand Prix at Hard Rock Stadium is the season's last big hospitality weekend: paddock clubs, suites and brand activations order bartenders and banquet servers, the stadium footprint orders concessions and parking, and the Miami Gardens hotels run full. It is the natural end of the season; demand drops noticeably after Mother's Day.

Month by month

October. Miami Carnival's main weekend is Columbus Day weekend (Pan Jamboree Friday, October 9; J'ouvert Saturday, October 10; Parade of Bands and concert Sunday, October 11) at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition Grounds, with the Junior Carnival a week earlier on October 3. III Points fills five blocks of Wynwood on October 16–17 (organizer says 294 artists on 13 stages). The South Beach Seafood Festival's chef dinners run Wednesday to Friday, October 21–23, with the beachfront festival at Lummus Park on Saturday, October 24 (organizer says 12,000-plus attendees in 2025). Then FLIBS closes the month.

November. Quieter on paper, busier in kitchens. FLIFFShorts (November 5–8) is small. The Miami Book Fair runs November 15–22 downtown with its Street Fair on Friday–Sunday, November 20–22, the heavy setup, concessions and teardown days. Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26: hotel and club buffets book banquet servers and dishwashers for the Wednesday prep and the Thursday service, and the corporate holiday-party season starts the following week. Our holiday rush guide for restaurants covers that side.

December. Art Week in the first week (see above), then the three party weekends of December 4–5, 11–12 and 18–19, with Palm Beach Food & Wine, the Palm Beaches Marathon, Winterfest and the Orange Bowl Beach Run stacked onto December 10–13. The Boca Raton Bowl is Friday, December 18. The week between Christmas and New Year's is hotel-heavy and venue-light: resort banquets and New Year's Eve are the orders, not festivals. Our holiday event staffing guide covers party headcounts and booking dates.

January. Las Olas Art Fair Part I opens the year on January 9–10 in Fort Lauderdale. The Orange Bowl is a College Football Playoff semifinal this season, played Thursday, January 14: a weeknight stadium order of concessions, parking and cleanup. Art Deco Weekend (January 15–17) and Beaux Arts (January 16–17) share the holiday weekend. Miami Modern + Contemporary takes the One Herald Plaza pavilion January 20–24 (the old Art Wynwood web address now points to this fair). Art Palm Beach runs January 27–31 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, and the Life Time Miami Marathon closes the month on Sunday, January 31 (Tropical 5K Saturday, January 30), with a finish at Bayfront Park and an expo in the days before.

February. The Miami International Boat Show (February 10–14), Delray Beach Open (February 12–21), Coconut Grove Arts Festival (February 13–15) and A1A Marathon (February 13–14) make the first half of the month the season's peak. FLIFF has moved from the fall to February: the 41st edition runs February 19–27 in Fort Lauderdale. Spring training opens at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter on February 19 and runs to March 21, with concessions, cleanup and parking for roughly 19 home dates (one caution: sports outlets have flagged a possible MLB work stoppage; check the schedule in January). SOBEWFF, February 25–28, ends the month at full stretch.

March. eMerge Americas (March 2–4, Miami Beach Convention Center; organizer says 20,000-plus attendees and 400-plus exhibitors) is a conference order: setup, hosts, banquet lunches. Las Olas Art Fair Part II is March 6–7. Jazz in the Gardens has announced "March 2027" at Hard Rock Stadium without day dates yet. Calle Ocho and the Miami Open both start March 14; the Palm Beach boat show (March 17–21) and the Miami Beach Antique Show (March 18–22) overlap; Winter Music Conference (March 24–26) runs into Ultra (March 26–28), and Easter falls on Ultra's closing day, Sunday, March 28, 2027, so hotel brunch service and the festival strike compete for the same Sunday crews. Spring break tourism sits under all of it, which is why beach-hotel banquet orders also rise in March.

April. Tortuga Music Festival on Fort Lauderdale Beach (April 2–4) and Seatrade Cruise Global at the Miami Beach Convention Center (April 5–8; organizer says 12,500-plus attendees and 650-plus exhibitors) open the month; the Delray Affair (April 9–11) and Miami Beach Pride (April 10–11, parade Sunday at noon) share the following weekend. The F1 weekend starts Friday, April 30.

May. The Grand Prix finishes Sunday, May 2. The Fort Lauderdale Air Show is May 15–16 on the beach. SunFest, historically the first weekend of May in West Palm Beach, has not published anything beyond its 2024 edition, so confirm with the organizer before planning around it. After mid-May the region moves into its slow season, which is when venues schedule deep cleans, fixture resets and maintenance crews.

What is not happening (so you don't staff for it)

Two events people still put on their calendars are not in South Florida this season. Rolling Loud held its 2026 U.S. edition in Orlando (May 8–10, 2026), not Miami Gardens; its site lists "Florida 2027" with no city, venue or dates, so do not assume a return. The Miami International Auto Show did not run at the Miami Beach Convention Center in 2026; a June 2026 report quoting the City of Miami Beach says the organizer is still discussing future dates. And Art Wynwood has no 2027 dates anywhere; its domain now redirects to Miami Modern + Contemporary (January 20–24).

Which roles each kind of event orders

The event type predicts the order better than the event's size does.

Boat shows (FLIBS, Miami, Palm Beach) are setup-and-teardown events first: tents, docks, carpet, furniture, signage, then the same in reverse. The hospitality order comes second and is skewed to bartenders and servers for exhibitor receptions, usually with a dress code. Expect 7–10 day labor windows around 5-day shows, and expect the strike to be faster and shorter-staffed than the build. See event setup crews in Miami.

Art fairs (Art Week, Art Palm Beach, MM+C, the Antique Show) run on install crews and art handlers before opening, then bartenders and servers for VIP previews and gallery dinners, then hosts and porters through public days. The preview nights are the pinch point: every fair holds one, on the same two evenings.

Food and wine festivals (SOBEWFF, Palm Beach Food & Wine, SOBE Seafood) are the opposite: almost entirely front-of-house and kitchen. Servers, bartenders, catering kitchen help and dishwashers, in that order, plus setup for the beachside tents. If workers will pour, Florida's Responsible Vendor program is voluntary, but most festival caterers ask for an alcohol-service card anyway (see TIPS certification and alcohol server certification by state). Food handling rules are in our food handler card guide.

Road races (Palm Beaches, Miami, A1A marathons) order general laborers and setup/teardown for the start/finish village and water stations, overnight course setup, cleanup crews behind the last runner, and traffic/parking assistants. Shifts start at 2–4 am.

Stadium and track days (Orange Bowl, Miami Open, F1, the Boca Raton Bowl, spring training) order concessions workers, cleanup crews, parking and, for the premium areas, banquet servers and bartenders. Our stadium and arena staffing guide covers the credentialing and check-in logistics that make these orders different.

Conventions (eMerge, Seatrade) order setup/teardown for the floor, hospitality hosts for registration, and banquet servers for keynote lunches and receptions, typically through the venue's caterer or the general contractor.

Street festivals (Carnival, Calle Ocho, Art Deco Weekend, Delray Affair, the Las Olas fairs, Pride) order setup/teardown, concessions and cleanup, with parking assistants where the city requires them. For ratios by headcount, the event staffing checklist has the per-100-guest numbers; our banquet staffing guide and catering staff guide go deeper on plated versus buffet service.

When to book, and what it costs to wait

Our dispatch takes orders 7 days a week, and the hire page accepts same-day requests. But the public rate card prices urgency: same-day orders (within 12 hours) add 10% and orders within 48 hours add 5%, the minimum is 4 hours per worker per shift, and cancellation is free with 24 hours' notice (terms as published on our pricing page on October 2, 2026). For the crunch weekends above, the practical rule is simpler than any surcharge: get the order in two to three weeks ahead, confirm headcount a week out, and keep 10–15% of the roster on a standby list for the Friday-night no-shows. Our no-show playbook explains how the standby list works.

Two things change the math this season. First, Florida's minimum wage rose to $15.00 an hour on September 30, 2026; the tipped minimum follows the state's fixed $3.02 tip credit, so it is $11.98. Second, the overlap weekends compress supply across all three counties at once, so a venue in Boca Raton is competing with Art Week in Miami Beach for the same bartender. Booking early is the only lever that beats both.

For a sense of the labor market under all this, the Bureau of Labor Statistics' May 2025 metro estimates for Miami–Fort Lauderdale–West Palm Beach put median hourly wages at $17.34 for servers (25th–75th percentile $13.48–$22.54), $16.68 for bartenders ($14.11–$22.44), $15.13 for dishwashers and $18.55 for laborers and material movers. Those are what workers earn; a staffing bill rate adds employer taxes, workers' comp, insurance, recruiting and dispatch on top. What event staffing costs walks through that gap, and the live estimator on our Miami event staffing page shows the current indicative range for each role (on October 2, 2026, it showed $23.63–$26.25 per hour per banquet server in Miami; the dispatcher confirms the final rate).

How Crew Staffing Pros staffs the season

We are a W-2 staffing agency based in Coral Springs, so South Florida is our home market: Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach are where our dispatchers and our crews live. Every worker is our employee, background-checked and covered by our workers' comp and liability insurance; venues and caterers do not deal with payroll, 1099s or no-show risk. If a confirmed worker does not show, we send a replacement and you are never billed for the missed time. If you are not happy with a worker during their first 4 hours on their first shift with you, you don't pay for those hours. The terms are on our guarantee page.

For the weekends above we run standby rosters, pre-event briefs (dress code, credentials, venue rules, parking) and live check-in tracking, so we usually know about a late worker before you do. Order event staff in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Miami Beach or Miami Gardens, or go straight to the request form. Looking for shifts instead? Apply here; event season is a good time to start.

Frequently asked questions

When does South Florida's event season start and end?

For labor planning, it opens with Miami Carnival's main weekend (October 9–11, 2026) and the Fort Lauderdale boat show (October 28 – November 1) and closes with the Formula 1 weekend (April 30 – May 2, 2027). Demand falls off after mid-May.

Which weekend is the hardest to staff?

February 12–15, 2027: the Miami International Boat Show, the Delray Beach Open, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival and the A1A Marathon all run that weekend, plus Valentine's Day on the Sunday. The first week of December (Art Week) is the tightest for bartenders and banquet servers in Miami-Dade specifically.

How far ahead should I book event staff for these weekends?

Two to three weeks for the crunch weekends, with headcount confirmed a week out. Our dispatch takes same-day orders 7 days a week, but the rate card adds 10% for same-day and 5% within 48 hours, and on an overlap weekend the late order is competing with every other venue's late order.

Do you staff Art Basel or the boat shows directly?

We staff the venues, caterers, exhibitors, galleries and production companies that work those events; we are not affiliated with the organizers. Any business that needs servers, bartenders, setup crews or porters for an event-week order can request a crew.

Do your workers need an alcohol-service certificate in Florida?

Florida does not require one by law (its Responsible Vendor program is voluntary), but many festival caterers and venues require TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol for anyone pouring. Tell your dispatcher if your event requires a card and we staff accordingly.

Do you cover Palm Beach County as well as Miami and Broward?

Yes. West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Jupiter are all in our home market. Order through the West Palm Beach event staffing page or the hire form.

And if you're not happy with a worker in the first 4 hours, tell your dispatcher and you won't pay for those hours. Terms on our guarantee page.
